SPINAL MANIPULATION IS EFFECTIVE
AND COST REDUCING FOR SPINE CARE
Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn welcomes all spine
pain patients! Spine pain
is disconcerting for its sufferers. Ashburn chiropractic
spinal manipulation helps. Though low back pain is
a major source of disability globally, its
sufferers who have persistent or recurrent episodes of low back pain realize that chiropractic maintenance care is valuable as it is
patient-centered care. (1) Neck pain sufferers, too, discover
relief with chiropractic. Neck pain patients who undergo
spinal manipulation – 90% of which is delivered by chiropractors in the US – were found to be 2.38 times less likely to need escalated and more expensive care like imaging,
injection, emergency room or surgery (just 26%) than patients who were treated
with other type of care (46%). (2) A new study of
Medicare patient claims reports that patients who had less
access to chiropractic care had an increase in visits
(32.3 a year) to primary care physicians for spine pain and an
uptick in spine surgeries (5.5 a year) costing an extra $114,967 per 1000
Medicare beneficiaries and $391 million nationally. (3) Your Ashburn
chiropractor is well-qualified in performing
spinal manipulation. Spinal manipulation
is and has been recommended as first-line treatment for low back
pain. Reviews of Medicare claims note
that chiropractors are the majority of healthcare providers for spinal
manipulation and that the general supply of spinal manipulation
providers is dropping. (4) Do not worry! Your hometown, Ashburn chiropractor has no intention of not providing pain-relieving spinal manipulation, particularly
the gentle, research-supported Cox® Technic style of spinal
manipulation.

with Dr. Kurt Olding on The
Back Doctors Podcast with Dr. Michael Johnson as he presents research
on the role of spinal manipulation in the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain
Management for the relief of spinal stenosis, a common spine pain condition

Ashburn CHIROPRACTIC TIP
OF THE MONTH:
Beneficial B Vitamins
B vitamins are beneficial. B12 deficiency is often
linked with dementia in patients 65 years old and over. It’s also been seen in young
people who have normal B12 levels but have a high methylmalonic acid (MMA) level. Checking the MMA level
may be a useful test in patients with symptoms that seem unconnected
as in one patient with neuropathy, depression and stomach issues who was found to have a high MMA. (5) Biotin (B7) supplementation
is demonstrating potential in the treatment of neuropathic pain
and could reduce the necessary doses of analgesic
drugs. (6) Riboflavin (B2) in foods and via supplements is known
for its antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory effects among others. A
new study reported that B2 offers anti-itch properties. (7) Are your B levels good?
