Relieving Chiropractic Care Relief of Ashburn and Herndon Leg Pain Right or Left

June 02, 2020

Left leg. Right leg. Sciatica (aka leg pain) will affect either leg (and sometimes both). Ashburn and Herndon chiropractic care at Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn helps reduce leg pain and addresses the spinal cause of the sciatica at the same time. Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn leads Ashburn and Herndon leg pain and back pain patients to pain relief with chiropractic care.

SCIATIC LEG PAIN: Right Leg or Left Leg

You have heard of right-handed people and left-handed people, right? Of course, you have! Did you know that the left leg grows longer in right-handed people and the right leg grows longer in left-handed people? Not 100% of the time, but research has it documented in pretty high percentages. Bearing this in mind, it is not surprising that more people have longer left legs (53%) than right legs (39%). Amazingly, only 8% of people have equal leg lengths. (1) How does that impact which leg will have radiculopathy? Discs will bulge into the concavity of the curve due to a range of issues like uneven stresses on the anulus of the disc. The concavity of the spinal curve is on the long leg side. A right-handed person with a long left leg will likely experience leg pain on the left side. Another curious point: hip pain often arises on the long leg side, too: 88.9% long leg vs 11.1% short leg. Sciatica is the same: 78.5% occurs on the long leg side and 21.5% on the short leg side. (2,3) Your Ashburn and Herndon chiropractor can spot a short leg pretty easily by examining 3 things: iliac crest, the verticality of the spine, and levelness of the posterosuperior iliac spine dimples. Researchers stated that there is a solid relationship between visual and xray measurements. (4) Trust your Ashburn and Herndon chiropractor to find a short leg…and take care of any related disc herniation causes of pain!

DISC HERNIATION RE-ABSORPTION WITH NON-SURGICAL CARE

A new study studied 75 cases of ruptured lumbar disc herniation. Forty-six of the 75 cases had radiating leg pain: 46 cases on the left and 29 on the right. (Makes sense now, right?) At 5 years follow-up after non-surgical treatment, a “reabsorption” phenomenon was noted. The excellent and good rate of disc reabsorption was 73.24%. (5) Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn provides relieving non-surgical care of Ashburn and Herndon leg pain and back pain.

RELIEF FOR Ashburn and Herndon LEG PAIN and BACK PAIN

And then remember the new paper regarding the benefits of chiropractic maintenance care: Maintenance care reduces the number of painful days in acute back pain episodes and raises the length of pain-free periods between recurrent back pain episodes of persistent back pain. (6) Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn is here for those back pain and leg pain patients wanting fewer back and leg pain days and those who want to live life with fewer periods of leg and back pain.
